TV is paramount by 5iveminutes TV is paramount by 5iveminutes
The power of Video helps to control the sheer masses of children these days. I think it is Dreamworks’ Madagascar running right now. Movies on DVD - black copies - are bought from sellers on the street.

In Brazil TV is paramount. There is no household imaginable without one. It runs the whole day, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, whether screening movies, tele novelas, talk or game shows. Even as guests, we have always been invited into the living room to watch TV.

If you want to read more about my time there or browse through more photos of the series click me

So here I am waking up because of all that noise (they are renovating the apartment building where I live) and wish they would stop already. Turn on the computer while being in a very bad mood and wonder why I have this many feedback messages..
DAILY DEVIATION! WOHOOOO. Now that is one nice surprise.
Thank you AnglaiseRox for suggesting ^_^
And Thank you Timothy-Sim for featuring :-D

You operate a camera in front of most kids and they usually can't help but respond to it. Not a single one of these kids is looking up or even seemingly aware of you. That was the first thing I noticed.

Wonderful shot. I'm glad it is a DD.

Thank you very much!
It was actually hard to get photos of the kids, usually they do respond to the camera as you said and they find being behind the camera much more fun than infront (which is one of the resoons I switched to analog photography ^^).
But I tried to be a bit sneaky on that one and sat up there or a while so they would get used to it.

This is a great capture :)
Shooting from above to show the controlled atmosphere was genius.

I recently went to Nicaragua, and noticed the same thing. DVDs are sold everywhere, and every single home has a television in it. Even if there is no furniture, there is a television.

Things are alike everywhere I guess. I mean even in Vienna people spend a lot of time in front of that thing.
Thank you for your comment :D Nice to see you like it and the message gets across.
How long did you stay there?

I guess that's something I've never thought about before.

I was only in Nicaragua for eleven days. I wish it had been longer.

I am looking at this for a quiet a while and I have no idea how you achieved to make this shot from that angle.
It's very nice, and gives so much more impact on this piece.

Love the theme of the shot and the settings for it.

Nice job!

about two or three metres behind the TV is a starcase which led to a room and later to the roof. So I took a chair (to make up for my missing height hehe) and balanced there for a bit :-) I guess it was all worth it.
I did try a couple of shots from below too, but you are right, the impact came with this angle.
